MTSO training workshop offers information on art therapy
MTSO will present a day-long training workshop, "Creating Healing: The Role of Art Therapy in Clinical Settings," 10 a.m.-3 p.m. April 3 on the MTSO campus, 3081 Columbus Pike in Delaware, Ohio. Tuition of $60 covers all sessions, four Recognized Clock Hours, four Continuing Education Units and lunch. Additional information and online registration is provided at www.mtso.edu/creatinghealing.
The workshop will offer clinicians information on the efficacy of creative expression in working with clients who have co-occurring conditions; the forms that creative expression may take relative to human development; how art therapy functions within overall clinical frameworks; and how creativity can support the clinician in his or her own self-care and professional growth journey.
Through the use of lecture, role-play and hands-on opportunities to try out forms of art therapy, clinicians will develop more tools to further individualize treatment for their patients and clients – and perhaps new forms of caring for themselves in their challenging and demanding professions.
