Many campus events are presented by the Theological Commons at MTSO.
We welcome the public to MTSO events, which range from multi-day institutes and workshops to faculty and guest lectures.
Closing Convocation, 1 p.m. May 7
This ceremony, a highlight of the academic year, will be held in the Alford Centrum. Faculty will process in full regalia, and President Jay Rundell will speak.
Undoing Conquest: Ancient Israel, the Bible, and the Future of Christianity, 7 p.m. May 15
MTSO Assistant Professor of Public and Practical Theology Kate Common discusses her new book exploring how biblical conquest narratives shaped Christian ideology, white-settler colonialism and genocide – and what to do about it.
Baccalaureate, 7:30 p.m. May 17
We will gather in the Alford Centrum. Graduating senior Mackalyn Figgins will preach the sermon. No tickets are required.
Commencement, 11 a.m. May 18
We will celebrate the graduation of the class of 2024 in Dickinson Courtyard. Bishop Gregory Palmer of the West Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church will deliver the commencement address. There will be ample seating under a tent. No tickets are required.
